What photographer Summerbell may not be aware of is that the driver of the white GT40 is actually Lord March, taking one of his young family for a spin round Goodwood between races. Ford provides two GT40s each year for use as course cars at the Revival meeting, and invited Lord March to try one out. I know this because I buckled them in and then drove the other one round after them! AA

Good grief, it's me. Passenger is Charles, son of the Earl of March. As we roared down the Lavant Straight he made a face at his father who was driving the other (white) Ford GT40 course car, turned to me and said "Does this car have a horn?"

Glenn, Like your photos, I am in Australia and not being overly familiar with some of the cars, and unless they can be distinguised by Radiator Badges, (In one case with a VSCC Marshall obscuring the Radiator completely) my suggestion, if you can, would be to name them with the year if possible. This is a 1958 Kellison J4 Roadster. It is a factory built roadster, not a cut down coupe. Perhaps ten or eleven were build. Power is 339 cu in '283' Chevy with three Stromberg 97's. This was the car's first race since restoration, and it finished fifth overall.

Thanks for this excellent picture of my brother John Holmes in his F2 March. John and his team are local boys from Cotebrook (a mile from Oulton). Our father had the Garage (from 1939) on the junction of the A49 and Oulton Mill Lane which is one of the main routes to the park. We grew up with all the famous names and events there. John and his team of two, have over the years built many engines and cars, progressing from Formula Vee to F2. John came third in his race, from a starting point of 22 in a race of 30plus. For a local boy who built his own car to achieve this is a great joy, and delight for all the Cheshire folk who know him.

Nice Brit weather for our Aussie icon.Had expected a win,the Holden looks as though it could be lower and have wider wheels as they did here. The Muncie Close-ratio put in place of the 3 speed has a very tall first, slow off the line. 120,000 were made between 1948 and 1953.The 2.2 litre 6 was designed in USA in 1932 but never used there. Car's main virtue is 1000KG weight [monocoque]

From #59 leaning to our right in that distant turn to #19 leaning, knee out, into this near turn with plenty of space in front of him in the image.
